Stacking Glass Walls and Stacking Clear Glass Walls by Solar Innovations®
Unparalleled Sightlines, Incomparable Flexibility
Solar Innovations® stacking glass wall systems are available in two different systems of Standard Stacking Walls and Stacking Clear Glass Walls . Standard Stacking Walls are typically used as interior separation or isolation partitions for commercial and residential applications. Exterior applications of Stacking Glass Walls should be in areas that are partially shielded from the elements due to the limited air and water performance of the system. Clear Glass Walls are for use in interior applications only and feature unobstructed sight lines and a clean architectural appearance. These unique systems provide an attractive method for separating rooms and have the added benefit of sliding and stacking into an unseen area depending on your needs. Polycarbonate stacking walls are also available instead of glass.
These systems are ideal for customers desiring a temporary wall with the longevity typical of a Solar Innovations, Inc. product. The unique attribute of being able to fully conceal the wall prevents space from being lost in the room, ideal for commercial or residential applications.

The Standard Stacking Glass Wall system is a fully-framed, heavy duty wall which uses many of the same extrusions the Folding Glass Wall system. It is designed to accommodate relatively heavy commercial or residential applications. Althought is it not generally used for exterior applications it does offer some degree of air, water, and sound isolation. This unique system provides an attractive method for separating rooms and have the added benefit of stacking into a closet or remote area.
Any glazing option is available for both stacking and folding panels, including horizontal mullions and decorative grid options. Panels can be held in place by keyed flush locks, non-keyed flushbolts or two point locks. If there is no sill, then dust proof floor strikes will be placed in the locking locations to receive the bolts.
Wood options include Mahogany or Spanish Cedar veneer. Upon special request, veneers of Western Red Cedar, Southern Yellow Pine, Douglas Fir, Northern White Pine, Redwood, and Cherry. Please visit our panel options page for more information on customizing your Standard Stacking Wall system.
Stacking Clear Glass Wall System
Solar Innovations® newest product development, the Stacking Clear Glass Wall system can be utilized for interior applications and light exterior applications. This non-thermal system is coveted for its virtually unobstructed sight lines and clean architectural appearance. The Clear Glass Wall System can be utilized to divide or section off a room and be stacked in a remote location to create a large working space. Although no vertical frames are necessary for the system, two variations are available which create seals between the panels for increased isolation: mono seal and dual seal.
Available in three configurations (Center Hung, Fully Hinged; Center Hung, Hinged Pairs; or Twin Trolley, Individual Panels), this system can be adapted to meet a myriad of architectural needs. Several sill options are available for this system including the flush idler, surface mount, and the flush lock which utilizes dust proof floor strikes. The floor strikes are placed in locking locations to receive the flush lock’s bolt to ensure unobstructed sight lines and minimal evidence of the wall's existence when it is stacked away.
Sill options for stacking glass walls include:
- Flush Lock- There is no sill used for this option. The only penetrated areas in the floor are those required for locking hardware and flush strikes (dust-proof available).
- Surface Mount- An ADA compliant sill, the surface mount sill is suitable for showrooms and can withstand typical loads from most vehicles with rubber or pneumatic tires. It is also designed to provide moderate air and water control for walls partially exposed to an exterior environment.
- Recessed Tank- This sill is completely flush with the floor and includes a drain tank. It provides additional water control, a clean appearance, and completely eliminates any ADA concerns.(Draintubes manufactured by separate company.)
- Flush Idler- Full control of individual panels is provided with this sill; a channel for the idler bearings is located on the bottom of each panel. This application requires two full sets of tracks and is best suited for large paneled projects needing extra control.
Both of Solar Innovations® stacking glass wall systems utilize stainless steel trolley bearings developed to withstand a high-load capacity and the longevity required for large architectural applications. These bearings were specifically designed to provide smooth, quiet operation in virtually all conditions for years to come. Flush bolts or keyed locking hardware can be included in the bottom horizontal rails of the system while standard door hardware is provided for the operable door panel.
