Single Slope Polycarbonate Glazed Skylight (interior)

Since its inception in 1998, Solar Innovations® custom structure, door, and window systems have been designed to accommodate several sizes of polycarbonate as the glazing selection.  Our framing systems have been carefully developed to ensure that the growing markets of polycarbonate skylights, polycarbonate sunrooms, and polycarbonate greenhouses can be served with value engineered structures that will withstand the test of time.

Polycarbonate is a strong alternative or compliment to traditional glazing that will provide both translucent and semi-opaque options.   When coupled with Solar Innovations’® aluminum systems, the polycarbonate will provide a durable structure, window, or door that will last throughout the ages.

Polycarbonate is particularly useful for commercial buildings as it can help to diffuse light to achieve the overall lighting effect desired. Polycarbonate can also be intergrated into glass glazed structures to provide higher R-values in the roof while glass is used in the vertical glazing to allow for a completely unobstructed sight line.

Solar Innovations® offers polycarbonate selections ranging from 8mm to 25mm as standard offerings.  Depending upon polycarbonate thickness, multi-wall panels may be available.  Polycarbonate has increased steadily in popularity over the last several years because it is offered in such a large variety of thicknesses, resulting in high R values, and in the majority of the colors of the rainbow: Blue, Green, White, Opal, Clear, and Bronze just to name a few.

Solar Innovations, Inc. has also developed a translucent panel system which accommodates polycarbonate selections up to 60mm in depth.  When the new polycarbonate wall system is coupled with water resistant insulation, it can achieve R values of up to  20.
