In general there are three "types" of greenhouses.
| This system is ideal for spring and summer gardening where heating and cooling is not an issue. A non-insulated greenhouse is suitable for a hobby gardener who grows seeds and then transplants the seedlings outside at the end spring. If the hobby greenhouse is less than 200 square feet, it is often the case that a foundation is not required by local code. Solar Innovations offers Earth anchors and aluminum sill frames which will secure the greenhouse and allow it to expand and contract in extreme weather as long as polycarbonate is utilized. |
This greenhouse system allows for more insulation and more plant growth. You can keep your plants in this greenhouse during the cold months of winter and typically not have to worry about inclement weather affecting the temperature of the interior greenhouse. During extreme temperatures aluminum can conduct heat and cold which affects efficiency or may slow plant growth if the plant comes into contact with the metal framework.
The polycarbonate is insulated and provide enough insulation to keep the plants growing. This system typically consists of structural accessories such as windows and ridge vents, but not external accessories such as heating and cooling units. However, this greenhouse is easily retrofitted into an all season greenhouse.
This greenhouse is used for year round growth, suitable for extreme cold and extreme heat. Energy efficiency is greatly improved because temperature, humidity, lighting….can all be properly controlled, and because Solar Innovations® has the only true thermally broken greenhouse.
The addition of heating and cooling will allow plants to be grown year round. Using the correct accessories will allow you to grow any plant in this greenhouse including bedding plants, orchids, and citrus trees. YOu can grow vegetables from seeds, plant them in the fall, and harvest fruit in the middle of a snowstorm.
