Polycarbonate Solutions
Polycarbonate Solutions by Solar Innovations, Inc.
Since its inception in 1998, Solar Innovations, Inc. custom structures, doors, and windows have been designed to accommodate several sizes of glass or polycarbonate as the glazing selection. Our frames have been carefully developed to ensure that the growing markets of polycarbonate skylights, polycarbonate sunrooms, and polycarbonate greenhouses can be served with value engineered structures that will withstand the test of time.
Polycarbonate is a durable substance with many unique features and benefits. While this product has been on the market for years, there is currently a resurgence of polycarbonate use taking place in the building industry. Traditionally polycarbonate was used glass replacement to drive down costs, but is now being utilized for its aesthetic values and durable properties.

Polycarbonate is virtually indestructible. Even when bricks are thrown at the substance and it does not break. It’s an excellent choice for high traffic areas, with shopping carts or high winds. Testing has been completed for Florida Impact ratings.
Burn Ratings – Polycarbonate has various burn ratings, which are useful in commercial settings. It is available with ASTM E84/UL 723 compliance.
Light weight – This correlates to shipping cost reductions and quicker installations. 25mm polycarbonate weighs only .717lbs, much less than traditional building materials.
Design Flexibility – Polycarbonate is available in numerous colors including clear, opal, bronze, blue and green. Panels can be formed to a specific radius for arched awnings or walkways. The physical appearance of polycarbonate lends itself to a modern style, with smooth fronts.
Thickness – There are multiple thick nesses available, including 8mm, 25mm, and 60mm. Interior applications often utilize 8mm, exterior units use 25mm, and hurricane applications incorporate 60mm.
Diffused Daylight - Direct sunlight entering a room or building can often cast glares. Polycarbonate diffuses the light it allows into the room. This is a valuable option for rooms with computer screens.
Environmental - Because Polycarbonate is a plastic based product, it can be recycled. Certain product lines are even available with post-consumer recycled content.
SI Service- Solar Innovations, Inc. has vast experience creating polycarbonate structures. Solar’s manufactured products can all be glazed with polycarbonate. In-house designers and engineers will work to create a door, window, or structure that meets specific environmental conditions.
All sizes are custom and will be built to exact specifications in Solar Innovations, Inc.’s Pennsylvania manufacturing facility. All frameworks are aluminum, which will not rust, warp, rot, or require constant finish maintenance. There are seven standard frame finishes available, along with any custom color required, at an additional cost. Installation options are available through Solar Innovations, Inc. or an affiliated national dealer.
