Glass is the traditional choice for sliding door glazing and typically has a longer life when compared to polycarbonate. There are many design options when using glass including decorative glass, where the glass is etched with patterns such as rain drops and leaves. Sand blasted glass is another decorative selection, which is white in color and hides objects within the room. This glass is popular with laundry rooms and bathrooms.
Low-e glass is a very functional choice for residential applications. The low-e glass blocks UV rays from the sun which creates a more consistent room temperature and minimizes furniture and window treatment fading. This glass helps eliminate the damaging effects of the sun. Impact glass is available, in low-e and other tints, along with Florida Hurricane rated options.
