Meeting Every Need

Capillary Tubes
Note: Solar Innovations™ installs capillary tubes into our insulated glazing when shipping our products across the Rocky Mountains to the west coast. This allows for changes in altitude or temperature during shipping. These tubes are then crimped shut on the construction site. If capillary tubes are not used, sealed insulated glass has to adjust with the changes in pressure and temperature, which can cause the glass to bow inwards or outwards. Bowing causes visual distortion and may cause premature failure of the edge seals. In extreme circumstances, bowing may lead to glass fracture. If the pressure change is large, the insulating glass panes can fracture, and/or the sealant holding the glass panes can rupture causing premature seal failure.

Note: For greenhouse applications, clear glass is recommended for maximum plant growth. Clear Sol-I-Guard 272 is required in some cases depending on the specific needs of your plants and growing space such as delicate plants that may be harmed by direct sunlight. Please contact our sales department for assistance in choosing the correct glazing.

Standing Seam

Advantages

  • Long life span and is virtually maintenance free.
  • It can be easily color matched to many aluminum structures.

Disadvantages

  • Does not allow for light penetration.
  • Can be easily damaged during installation.
  • More expensive than most other options.

Structural Panel

Advantages

  • Glaze into structures like glass.
  • Good thermal performance compared to glass.
  • Very resistant to impact.

Disadvantages

  • More expensive than glass.
  • Longer lead times than glass.
