Shelving options from Solar Innovations, Inc. provide additional growing and storage space for any greenhouse. A shelf can be attached to a solid wall or mounted to rafters in front of glass windows. If space permits, shelving can be stacked on a wall. Greenhouse shelving can be used for any glazed or conventional construction structure, as they are designed to match the aesthetics of their surroundings. A bay window can be turned into a miniature greenhouse with the addition of shelving. Garden windows typically have several shelves to allow plants to flourish.

Bench Shelving
Lower greenhouse bench shelves are exceptionally helpful for plants that thrive in shade or minimal sunlight conditions. Under bench options are approximately 18" deep and placed underneath existing greenhouse benches. Adding a lower shelf will increase growing space and provide an extra storage area for supplies and equipment. Greenhouse shelves can be utilized with any bench configuration offered by Solar Innovations, Inc. except rolling benches.

There are several shelving materials available.
1. Glass shelving is traditionally used in garden windows, as it allows sunlight to reach all of the shelves. Saucers are used under the plants to minimize the amount of required cleaning. Glass shelves aesthetic match garden window's facade.
2. Wood Shelves are another aesthetically appealing shelving option. Mahogany or Cedar is recommended because of its ability to endure moisture and humidity. After the wood is stained, it provides a feeling of a traditional English greenhouse. Utilizing wooden shelves reduces sunlight to lower shelves which is ideal for shade plants such as orchids.
3. Metal shelving is constructed from the same material used to create greenhouse benches. These benches are sturdy and allow air to flow to the bottom of plants. Aluminum mesh is an excellent choice for bonsai trees which typically require proper air circulation to flourish. Aluminum will not rust or warp and is a practical choice for any greenhouse.
4. Polyethylene shelving is similar to the metal shelving in pattern. The major difference between the two, is that polyethylene is a plastic (containing recycled content). The polyethylene shelving is also is black and hides dirt with greater ease.
Shelving supports can be either a simple metal bar or a decorative corner. The metal bar can be attached underneath the shelf or from above to create a hanging shelf. Decorative corners are an excellent choice when aesthetics are of importance. There are various model selections. All mimic English greenhouses and traditional architecture. The corners can be painted to one of Solar Innovations, Inc. standard colors or a custom color.
