These benches are custom designed to be the perfect complement to any new or existing greenhouse.

Solar Innovations, Inc. offers several standard greenhouse bench options including fixed, tiered, rolling, potting, seedling, and gravel styles. Each system begins with an aluminum frame with the choice of three tops: galvanized mesh, Mahogany or Western Red Cedar slat top, and a UV resistant polyethylene grid-top. The galvanized mesh top and polyethylene grid-top platforms provide excellent air circulation, drainage, and allow light to reach the plants located below. A typical fixed bench of this type is generally 36" wide, by 36" tall; lengths can be customized. Fixed benches are aesthetically pleasing and durable enough to provide years of service.

There are several greenhouse bench options available through Solar Innovations, Inc. Fixed Benches can be custom manufactured with tiers. This means that smaller benches can be tiered on top of the base bench. Benches can have up to three tiers tall. The bottom bench is typically 36" deep, the second bench is generally 18" deep, and the third around 9" deep. Tiering benches provides customers with additional growing space. The top two tiers provide shade to the lower bench which can be utilized to grow plants that prefer diffused light, like orchids and African violets. An additional bench can also be placed underneath the 36" bench for plants preferring greater amounts of shade.

Our fixed greenhouse benches are manufactured in one, two, and three tier layouts with an optional adjustable lower shelf. The lower shelf doubles the bench space and provides additional storage. Tiers can be stacked, centered, or designed in a step pattern.

The examples above show two different bench layouts. Example 1 has the benches around the perimeter of two walls while Example 2 has three rows of benches. Typically the spacing between benches is 36" apart to allow for ample access to the vegetation and supplies without restricting the walkways within the structure.

Solar Innovations, Inc. offers Rolling Benches that are designed to be mobile and provide a walkway between each bench increasing the growing surface area. Potting Benches

Potting Benches are a greenhouse necessity, regardless of size. This practical unit allows the gardener to add a unique touch to the greenhouse's interior. A typical potting bench will consist of a sink, counter top for workspace, bins to hold potting soil, and shelving. Potting benches are designed to meet specific dimensions and the needs of individual customers. A potting bench can be utilized outside a greenhouse as well. A garage or mud room is an excellent location for a potting bench. If the potting bench is located along a wall, the upper half can hold shelving and a hanging area for tools. Drawers can be added to the bench and the lower level of the bench storage can be exposed or closed off with doors. Raised Seedling Beds are the perfect solution for cultivating a flower bed or vegetable garden in a greenhouse. These beds are supported by four sturdy legs and feature a depth of 12". The interior is filled with soil and the bed is raised so that customers do not have to spend time on their knees while maintaining their plant collection. Utilizing a seedling bed allows the production of fresh vegetables in the middle of a snowstorm and flowers to flourish out of their natural growing season. These benches can be customized designed to fit custom sizes. A seedling bed can also be converted to 1/2 raised bed and 1/2 fixed bench top. This design allows the gardener to rotate crops and potted plants.

Gravel Benches

Gravel benches are specifically designed to generate humidity. These benches are meant for use in greenhouses or with specialized plants such as orchids. Solar Innovations, Inc. combines a fixed bench and a solid metal top, instead of a traditional mesh top. The bench top can then be filled with gravel and water, generating a constant source of humidity for the flowers.
