Decorative Insulated Panels
Decorative panels have been in existence since ancient Egypt. The walls of their temples and courts have been decorated with various forms of base panels. Hieroglyphics and pictorial paintings adorned the lower halves of their walls. This practice continued throughout time. The Romans used decorative panels on the walls in Pompeii and Elizabethans constructed elaborate wood paneling. Base panels manufactured by Solar Innovations® follows the Elizabethan form of raised base panels.
Each panel is constructed out of aluminum. This means the panels will not rot, rust, warp or require constant finish maintenance. There are currently two standard models offered, a raised panel and a smooth panel. The on the raised panel, the elevated face is ¼” tall and protrudes ½” inch from the panel base. The distance the elevated square is offset can be customized to the customer’s specifications. Smooth panels are just as they sound, there are no raised or elevated portions. This type of panel is often used on a building’s interior where it will be blocked by desks or benches. The exterior can be the decorative raised design. Custom raised grids can be utilized upon request.
Custom designs are possible. Please contact your Solar Innovations® represent for more information. There are eight standard finishes that the panels are offered in along with any custom color your job may require, as well as unfinished aluminum. All sizes are custom which means Solar Innovations® panels which will be manufactured to your exact dimensions.
The panels can be used in new construction or retrofitted into existing structures. Common applications include glass structures such as greenhouses, sunrooms, conservatories, and pool enclosures in place of a traditional masonry or cement knee wall. Outdoor porches which are exposed to the elements utilize a knee wall, which can be replaced with raised base panels for a more decorative look. Base panels are often used on swing doors, folding doors and sliding doors. Coupled with grids, these doors have a very classic traditional look to them.
