Decorative and structural corner posts are one of the most classic forms of architecture. Corner posts have been in existence since ancient Egypt. Corner posts elicit a feeling of grandeur and were used for decoration and as a way to impress the first time viewer. The Greeks, Romans, and middle eastern cultures all used corner posts in their architectures.
Solar Innovations® can design your glass structure to include decorative posts. All posts are constructed from extruded aluminum; copper columns are also available. Solar Innovations will work with you to design the perfect posts for your enclosure; there are no standard sizes or shapes that you must adhere.
The posts can be traditionally modeled to include the plinth and capital. Each post can be fluted or flat, be styled after a Doric or Egyptian column. If you are designing a contemporary glass structure, there are designs available for these applications also. A common design is to radius the columns and add only a base. If you have a design in mind, feel free to discuss it with a Solar Innovations® sales representative.
Interior and exterior applications are both suitable for posts. Solar Innovations® can design the interior of the space to include posts at the corners of the room, between windows or both. The same is true for exterior applications also. Full length columns are possibilities as well as shorter sizes that will fit on top of a knee wall. Posts are available in seven standard colors and any custom color you may require.
