Decorative appliqués by Solar Innovations® are an element which can add character to several different applications. Each appliqué is cast aluminum and is available in five standard paint finishes or custom colors. There are two main motifs, the rosette and the fleur-de-lis both of which are very historical designs still found in moldings, textiles and flooring today.

The fleur-de-lis originated in France. It was a symbol of nobility. The Louis of France began using the emblem on their shields and eventually it spread to family crests. In time the English adopted the emblem as a way of claiming their rights to the French throne. The fleur-de-lis continued to be produced on everyday items and still is very popular in today’s modern culture. Solar Innovations® offers two versions of a fleur-de-lis. The main difference between the two is the sizes but on careful inspection one design has rounded edges and the second is more linear with sharper points.

The rosette is an even older motif. It has been found in archaeological artifacts from ancient civilizations including Egypt, the Middle East and Mesopotamia. There is no standard design for a rosette and the exact origin of the first rosette is unknown. The basis is always of a flower. Solar Innovations® offers three different rosettes at varying sizes. There is a plain flat rosette, a more ornate version with raised edges and the third is more geometric with a square behind the flower.

Appliqués are placed on all glass structures. The most common placement is onto a conservatory which is highly decorative. An appliqué on a sunroom or greenhouse is commonly completed.  The design is attached to the middle of decorative base panels of the structure or swing doors. Ring and collars in structures often utilize an appliqué for a more decorative appeal.  Custom designs are always welcome.  Please contact a Solar Innovations representative to discuss any projects.
