Field Positions

Installation Crew Members – All levels from entry level to crew leader.

 Skylight Installation

Summary of Position:

The Install Crew Member is responsible for a wide variety of tasks and requires familiarity with construction and masonry. Crew members need to be creative and resourceful problem solvers, with the ability to model company standards with a positive attitude. Install Crew Members should have a strong sense of customer service, and communicate thoroughly with their crew leader each day regarding their daily tasks and objectives. Applicants must be comfortable in a challenging, deadline-driven, detail oriented environment. This position requires frequent physical stamina and is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions.  Core hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with Fridays on an as-needed basis, or as required to perform duties satisfactorily. Schedules may fluctuate depending on customer availability and/or inclement weather.  Installation workdays are typically 10-12 hours, and travel time is typically outside the core hours.

Duties Include:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Installation Crew Leader to erect and install Solar Innovations, Inc.’s basic custom glass enclosures and operable door and window systems.
  • Work with other crew members to load and unload Company trucks for each respective job, while taking the utmost care when handling each customer’s product.
  • Follow all Departmental and Company safety policies, ensuring safe working practices are a top priority on a daily basis.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, ear plugs, protective tipped boots, fall protection equipment, hardhats, and back braces as needed; and follow all necessary safety procedures, including crane operating safety and hazard communication.
  • Travel to jobsites that are typically within 1 – 6 hours of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s facility; overnight travel will also be required.
  • Complete DOT training to become certified to drive Company vehicles (non-CDL) when needed.
  • Understand and follow the Hours of Service Regulations that cover all DOT drivers (< 26,001lb. vehicles), with regards to the amount of time drivers are able to operate a vehicle within a given time period.
  • Complete a daily driver’s log and timesheets for hours worked.
  • Interact with other departments, such as Project Management and Fabrication, to ensure that all shipped items are accurately accounted for.
  • Possess the general ability to read blueprints to ensure installation is completed as per the approved drawings.
  • Follow all clearly defined procedures and review installation manuals as needed to limit unnecessary rework.


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience and general knowledge of all aspects of installation of windows/doors/skylights, etc.; OR a willingness to learn
  • Experience with roofing, siding, sheet metal, and general construction/carpentry helpful.
  • Familiarity with construction and masonry tools and practices
  • Knowledge of DOT driving requirements and/or log book completion a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic terms and materials
  • Strong knowledge of power tools and their proper use and maintenance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills


Additional information about the role:

  • There are limited prevailing wage project opportunities.

Manufacturing Positions

Standard 4-day work week.  Hours typically 6-4:30 Monday through Thursday, with Fridays on an as needed basis.

Fabricator – Sheet Metal

 Summary of Position: 

  • Operate a break press and folding machine
  • Read detailed blueprints for assembly
  • Assist other departments in the design of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s products


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Carpentry, metalworking, or glazing experience is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints preferred
  • Attention to detail required
  • Must be able to read a tape measure

Fabricator – Structural(Sunrooms/Skylights)

Structural Fabrication Image

Summary of Position:

  • Construct our custom aluminum structures, including pool enclosures, conservatories, sunrooms, skylights and greenhouses in a safe shop environment.
  • Read and verify all drawings used for production in order to cut and layout all custom products using large saws and punch/drill presses
  • Assist other departments in the design of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s products


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Carpentry, metalworking, or glazing experience is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints preferred

  • Must be able to read a tape measure

Fabricator – Window/Door (Aluminum and Vinyl)

Window and Door Fabrication

Summary of Position:

  • Aluminum window and door fabricator needed with experience in the commercial/residential window & door industry preferred


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience reading blueprints preferred
  • 1-3 years related experience preferred (window, door, and/or other glass products)
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Eye for quality required


Packing and Shipping

Summary of Position:

  •  Manually pack and protect, wrap, and label packages and crates to efficiently prepare them for shipment.
  • Assist in packing, general clean up, and fabrication as needed in a clean, safe, climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Opportunity to learn and grow with the company.
  • Will train the right individual to become a Fabricator

 Painter/Powder Coater:

Paint Booth

Summary of Position – Painter:

  • Industrial or automotive painter to paint our custom structures using HVLP equipment
  • Must be able to work with urethane paints with 2-part epoxy primers.
  • Ability to read and complete paperwork

Summary of Position – Powder Coat Painter:

  • Operate a large batch powder-coating system
  • Assist with an existing liquid spray system
  • Utilize a chrome-free pre-treatment, 4-stage dip tank system and Wagner powder spray system to finish architectural extrusions

Skills / Qualifications for both positions:

  • Able to lift 30-50 lbs
  • Extreme attention to quality and efficiency required
  • 1-3 years of spray painting and/or powder coating experience preferred

Receiver/Material Handler

Receiver-Material Handler

 Summary of Position: 

  • Responsible for all functions and paperwork relating to receiving.
  • Operate machinery, including but not limited to: Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, Hand trucks etc.  in a safe and proper manner.
  • Maximize manufacturing potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products entering the facility, including verifying actual product against packing slips, proper handling of products coming into the facility and putting products away in their designated holding area.
  • Approve packing slips and distribute material to appropriate departments.
  • Pull material and stage for production

Truck Loader- Pickup Trucks/Trailers

Summary of Position:

  • Move materials to and from production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles by hand or by using a forklift, crane, or other loading equipment.
  • Manually or crane-load truck(s).
  • Safely and securely strap down products in truck for safe hauling and delivery to job sites


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must maintain load sheets on a regular basis.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently of others

Summary of Position:

  • Demonstrated experience fabricating production parts using water cutting, milling, shearing, bending and other applicable processes.
  • Set up and schedule individual jobs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Use design and layouts to operate a high-pressure abrasive water jet machine to cut and trim parts from an assortment of materials, according to specifications.
  • Measure dimensions of finished part using instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform inspection on parts.
  • Clean machines and work area
  • Use computer to track and update jobs
  • Experience conducting equipment checks and maintenance at proper intervals
  • Ability to learn and understand quality control and inspection procedures
  • Ability to maintain and insure all associated documentation is accurate

  • Basic math skills with the ability to use a calculator
  • Must be able to train on Trumpf Laser Machine, working knowledge a plus.

Office Positions

Accounts Receivable Accountant

Summary of Position:

  • Seeking a highly motivated, energetic, detail-oriented individual to join the Accounts Receivable team in a progressive Accounting Department
  • Prepare and submit invoices to customers
  • Apply and maintain customer cash receipt records
  • Conduct collection calls/emails to ensure timely payments
  • Ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be efficient and organized.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • 2 or 4 year degree in Accounting or related field preferred, but not required.

Drafter/CAD Detailer

Summary of Position:

  • Develop accurate and detailed submittal drawings and fabrication packages that will be utilized for layout and fabrication
  • Review engineering specifications to ensure project information is drafted accurately and in a timely manner in accordance to engineering requirements
  • Identify, locate, and update all appropriate product information related to the standard configurations and/or company standards for production
  • Develop the ability to perform simple layouts, details, fastener lists, and create a bill of materials for fabrication using personal discretion to update and make suggestions for possible design and product improvements
  • Work with architects, builders, and end users to discuss design concepts and convert ideas into final drawings


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be organized, efficient, and detail-oriented
  • 2 or 4 year degree required
  • Intermediate experience with AutoCAD (2D and/or 3D) and Excel is preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are a must

Estimator/Design Technician

Estimating and Design Technician


Summary of Position:

  • Generate proposals, estimates, and quotations including CAD isometrics in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Assist customers with the design process, offering options for value and function
  • Aid the sales team by creating a client support network internally and externally that meets and exceeds the Company’s sales objectives
  • Review, determine eligibility, complete take offs, communicate with bidders lists, and provide bids for Spec Projects from construction lead website projects
  • Interact with architects, contractors, glaziers, and homeowners on unique projects varying in scope and size
  • Interact with in-house Engineers, Drafters, and Project Managers to collect all necessary information for a project and to provide feedback to a customer in a timely manner
  • Serve as product expert for potential clients with a positive, professional manner

Human Resources Assistant/Coordinator

Human Resources

Summary of Position:

  • Responsible for updating the department’s applicant tracking database and ensuring all applications and resumes are kept on file.
  • Act as the direct contact for applicants throughout the recruiting process
  • Schedule phone interviews, in-person interviews, and applicant testing
  • Prepare orientation and new hire packets
  • Assist with timekeeping for payroll
  • Assist with benefit enrollment and/or benefit changes
  • Assist with the employee review process
  • May assist with training, safety, and/or on-boarding/mentoring program
  • Assist with all other HR functions as needed, including corrective action and departmental planning and prioritization of projects

IT – Product Configuration Analyst

Summary of Position:

  • Primary responsibilities include development and support of Product Configuration Management in an Engineer/Build to order Manufacturing environment
  • Working with WTS Paradigm software to develop configured product models to meet quoting, inventory and production requirements
  • Maintenance of legacy systems written in Microsoft Excel Vba and Microsoft Access Vba
  • Assist with and direct troubleshooting for any of the software packages, computer systems, telecommunication systems and the network
  • Develop reports as needed using C# Scripting, SSRS and other custom report writing software



  • Minimum of two years of experience working with configuration based software
  • Ability to read design drawings to determine bill of material requires and translate into configured model logic

Summary of Position:

  • Primary responsibilities include development, testing, user training, and acceptance of configuration based software in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Essential deliverables include Customer quotation information, lead time constraints, proposal documentation, material and labor requirements and fabrication reports
  • Maintenance of legacy systems written in Microsoft Excel Vba and Microsoft Access Vba
  • Develop reports as needed using Crystal Reports, SSRS and other custom report writing software


Skills / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Responsible for project development and management with direct relation to print media
  • Provide print design feedback and maintain all cut sheets, technical binders, brochures, etc.

Project Coordinator/Project Manager/Construction Manager

Project Management

Summary of Position:

  • Maintain communication with current and past customers to ensure complete satisfaction on projects/services, as well as to collect feedback for future customer experience improvement
  • Monitor each project’s continued flow by communicating daily with the Drafting, Engineering, Fabrication, and Installation Departments to make certain that all necessary deadlines are met and exceeded
  • Manage a wide range of jobs to develop an understanding of the Company and the overall Project Management process, which will progress into managing the daily workflow functions for each project
  • Communicate potential issues to all affected departments in a timely manner
  • Collect data, visually confirm (through pictures), and discuss site conditions with customers to ensure all provided information is accurate prior to project progression
  • Assist with document preparation and scheduling of the installation and service crews
  • Ensure necessary paperwork is completed, signed, and approved by the customer throughout the project process
  • Verify that all customer requests have been addressed in the preliminary stage of drawing approval
  • Review prints to ensure that all final copies of the shop drawings have the most current change requests applied before submittal for approval and fabrication
  • Communicate professionally with all customers, architects, and contractors to answer all technical questions regarding the Company’s products, their capabilities, and limitations
  • Provide feedback in an effort to improve processes and procedures in all areas to increase efficiency

Sales – Inside (Designer)

Inside Sales

Summary of Position:

  • Develop a loyal customer base by contacting new leads, following-up on quotes and literature requests, and discussing projects with new and existing customers
  • Serve as a product expert for potential clients with a positive, professional attitude
  • Provide technical advice as needed to facilitate the design process between potential customers and the SI team
  • Liaison with multiple departments to ensure potential clients receive appropriate product information either generally or specific to their project in a timely manner
  • Interact with architects, glaziers, and homeowners to ensure all information received is accurate and complete to facilitate proper quoting by the Estimating Department
  • Ensure proper tracking of customer information in corporate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system including contact information, record of communication, requested literature, etc.
